A service of
Louisiana United Methodist Children and Family Services, Inc.
The Family Plus program assists Louisiana families that are experiencing emotional stress or difficulties within the family. The Family Plus program offers services designed to achieve family preservation or reunification. These services are designed to address the needs of children, youth and families on a local level. Some of these services include:
- Consultations, assessments, referrals
- Family, individual, and group counseling
- Seminars and workshops
- Program development
The Family Plus program provides free in-home assessments for families who are experiencing behavioral difficulties with children. This assessment aids in identifying the specific needs of the children and their family. The Family Plus therapist may then offer referrals to the family which may be helpful in meeting those needs. In some cases, the therapist may offer out-patient therapy to the family to address a particularly stressful situation or crisis the family is facing.
The Family Plus program provides seminars, workshops, and program development assistance on local/regional basis to inform communities, educate families and train professionals. Some of the topics include, but are not limited to:
- Parenting
- Grief and loss
- Anger management
- Conflict resolution
- Adolescent issues
- Crisis debriefings
- Adoption issues
- Communication skills
- Team building
